INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

After news broke of Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Iraqi bases housing US troops, the market took a plunge.

As of late last night, DJIA future dropped 343 points. Analysts are predicting a loss of 365 when markets open this morning.

The S&P and Nasdaq are pointing to losses of at least 1.3%.

“Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles against U.S. military and coalition forces in Iraq. It is clear that these missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting U.S. military and coalition personnel at Al-Assad and Irbil.”

While the news has hurt equities, oil and gold are surging.

Crude futures jumped more than 3%, to $64.94 a barrel.

Gold futures for February delivery were up 2%. That puts gold at $1605.50 an ounce.

That marks the first time since gold broke the $1600 mark since 2013.

Asian markets are feeling the heat as well.

Some stocks have fared better. Namely, defense stocks.

“Most participants remained cautious … as it’s still unclear how the standoff between the U.S. and Iran could affect financial markets,” said Ken Berman, founder of Gorilla Trades, about Tuesday’s session. “Volatility remained relatively low today, but investors remained nervous.”

YOUR SILICON VALLEY (LIBERAL) OVERLORDS

Andrew Bosworth is the VP of Facebook.

In a memo recently released, he claims that it was, in fact, Facebook that helped Trump win in 2016.

But not for the reasons you might think…

It’s important to note that he is NOT a Trump supporter. He was strongly in the Hillary camp in 2016.

“As a committed liberal I find myself desperately wanting to pull any lever at my disposal to avoid the same result,” Bosworth said in the memo. “As tempting as it is to use the tools available to us to change the outcome, I am confident we must never do that or we will become that which we fear.”

“So was Facebook responsible for Donald Trump getting elected? I think the answer is yes, but not for the reasons anyone thinks,” Bosworth wrote. “He didn’t get elected because of Russia or misinformation or Cambridge Analytica. He got elected because he ran the single best digital ad campaign I’ve ever seen from any advertiser. Period.”

“They weren’t running misinformation or hoaxes. They weren’t microtargeting or saying different things to different people. They just used the tools we had to show the right creative to each person,” he wrote.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Nikki Haley hit the nail on the head.

And Democrats everywhere are up in arms.

On Fox News on Monday, Nikki Haley was on with Sean Hannity.

And they were talking about what everyone on the planet is talking about – rising tensions between the US and Iran.

So what did she say that has everyone’s panties in a wad?

That Democratic leaders and Democratic candidates for president are “the only ones that are mourning the loss of Soleimani.”

CNN is calling her despicable for it.

They were hoping she’d back track and apologize.

Instead, she’s doubled down.

In the same interview, she said “the president showed great decisiveness, great resolve,” and that he left Iranian leaders “shaking in their boots.”

Meanwhile, Joe Biden called President Donald Trump “dangerously incompetent and incapable of world leadership.”

But Fox’s Tammy Bruce, like Haley, is having none of it.

“The Democrats are saying that this action is an ‘escalation’. You’ve been seeing that word in headlines. Nancy Pelosi’s been saying it all. All the Democrats are saying it,” she observed.

However, Bruce argued, “when you do nothing about something like a cancer, like Soleimani and the spread of terrorism… or when you, in fact, appease that regime and give them money, you are in fact creating what is essentially an endless war.”

“What the real escalation is — interestingly enough — is by doing nothing to stop the cancer,” she continued.

At some point, you’ve got to say enough is enough.

“In November 1979, the U.S. embassy in Tehran was seized. Fifty-two Americans were taken hostage for 444 days,” she recalled. “In October of 1983, the Beirut barracks bombings killed 300 plus of our Marines.”

“September 2019, a drone attack on a Saudi oil facility. And, of course, at least 600 U.S. troops, at least, killed by Iran-backed militias in Iraq since 2003.”

“The president’s action eliminated this notion that appeasement was the way to go. And that’s what’s being called an escalation,” Bruce concluded.

TRUMP IS WINNING

The US trade deficit fell to $43.1 billion in November—its lowest level since October 2016.

And it’s all part of a campaign promise Trump made and has every intention of keeping.

It’s even more impressive when you consider that the US trade deficit had reached a record high in 2018.

There were two big reasons for that increase. First, with the economy growing so quickly, there were more imports. The second reason was that US importers knew about upcoming 2019 tariffs, so many of them stocked up in advance.

But now, all of that has changed.

Chinese exports to America have taken a nose dive.

While it’s clear that Trump is winning the Trade War, not everyone is thrilled about it.

“Falling imports in every major category are what we see in this report, and that includes capital goods. That is not a good sign for business investment.”

That was Jeffrey Kleintop, Charles Schwab’s chief global investment strategist.

CRAZY-INTERESTING OR RIDICULOUSLY-WEIRD

According to research published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, cat lovers are less likely to attend church.

The research found a “strong, negative association between worship attendance and cat ownership.”

Some of the researchers think this could be due to the fact that cats are a “god substitute.”

“They want to interact with you but it’s always on their terms and it’s always about them,” he said. “We want to always win their affections and it bothers us when we think they might be somehow displeased with us… So while they’re pretty low-maintenance, we end up serving them a lot. Cats are very godlike in those characteristics.”

Perhaps the guy who spent a week building a 2,432 piece Manga model is rethinking his decision to own a cat.

And seems completely unrepentant. But devilishly adorable.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

US stocks are less than 1% away from records.

It’s quite clear that investors are trying to shake off fears of what’s going on in the Middle East.

Or that their hunger for gains outweighs their anxieties.

Dow futures are currently up about 21 points, which is less than 0.1%.

The S&P futures gained just shy of 2 points, and is up 0.1%.

And the Nasdaq added 28 points or 0.3%.

This is after all three indexes showed gains in yesterday’s trading.

So how far are they from making new records?

The Dow is off by 0.6% from a record high.

The S&P 500 is just 0.4% shy.

And the Nasdaq needs to add just 0.2% to break the record set on January 2.

“Even though tensions between the US and Iran remain high, sentiment in equity markets has turned positive, as European indices are showing modest gains this morning.”

PayPal said it sees value in combining shopping and rewards with its two-sided payments network.

Enough value that they were willing to shell out $4 billion for new ecommerce startup, Honey.

It is by far the biggest acquisition PayPal has made in its two decade history.

So, what is Honey?

“Honey claims to have 17 million active monthly users whom it offers a deal-finding browser extension to help them get the best prices at more than 30,000 online retailers. Its coupon browser app also helps customers with finding the best deals on Amazon purchases, offers cash back, tracks price drops and more.”

So why do users love Honey?

Because it automatically applies coupon codes at checkout.

The company was founded in 2012.

By 2018 it had $100 million in annual revenue.

And an estimated $200 million in 2019.

“The addition of Honey to our platform enables a significant step forward in our commitment to provide powerful services and tools for merchants and consumers, move beyond our core checkout proposition and significantly enhance the shopping experience for our 300 million consumers and merchants,” said Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Remember the testimony in October of Intelligence Community inspector general Michael Atkinson?

Of course not – because it remains under wraps to this day.

Despite mounting pressure from Republicans.

That’s why House Republicans currently have him under investigation.

Atkinson is the man who notified Congress of the whistleblower complaint.

And ultimately sparked the current impeachment effort.

But Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, isn’t giving up.

In fact, he’s digging in for a fight.

“Everyone needs to see that testimony, because it’s very damaging, not only to the whistleblower but also to Atkinson himself.”

Of course, he does admit that as the minority party in the House, they can’t subpoena him or force him to testify again.

Will Atkinson’s closed-door testimony ever see the light of day?

TRUMP IS WINNING

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has all the votes he needs to overrule Schumer’s demands for additional witnesses and testimony when (if) the impeachment trial resumes.

Democrats had been hoping that Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski would jump ship with their republican colleagues.

But they won’t.

And even if they had, Democrats would have needed two more Republican Senators to mutiny.

Instead, Collins and Murkowski would like to follow the 1999 Clinton impeachment precedent.

Which means waiting until later in the process to decide if additional witnesses should or will be called.

This would happen after House impeachment managers and the Trump defense team presented their opening arguments.

“I think we need to do what they did the last time they did this unfortunate process and that was to go through a first phase and then they reassessed after that.”

Of course, all of this would require Pelosi to actually send the impeachment articles to the Senate.

Especially when viewed from the International Space Station.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

Investors are wondering if the bullish trends can continue.

After the US strike against Iran’s #2, the markets have hit some turbulence.

After all time highs on Thursday, the markets sank on Friday.

And today’s futures aren’t looking all that bright.

Dow Jones futures have fallen 0.5% versus fair value.

The S&P futures are down 0.45%.

The Nasdaq is down 0.6%.

In addition to the Iranian tensions, Boeing’s woes have also tugged the DJIA down.

Growth stocks have fared pretty well in the midst of it all.

Check out which stocks have been climbing against the odds.

While stocks are having a tough time, gold and oil are soaring.

Spot gold has risen 1.8% to $1,579.72 an ounce.

That’s the highest since April 2013.

Brent crude futures jumped past $70 a barrel.

U.S crude was up 1.7% to $64.12.

But when Trump strikes out against our enemies, the left starts running to their defense.

With virtually zero consequences.

“That never happens in these situations. And, until it does, this stuff is going to continue to occur, where there’s false reports or sympathy for terrorists being put out, and it needs to stop.”

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

Despite an initial 345-point drop, yesterday the Dow did cut some of those losses.

The US drone strike that killed a top Iranian military official drove negative investor sentiment.

But that wasn’t the only thing dragging down optimism.

The ISM manufacturing index came in at only 47.2. They’d been expecting 49.1.

That means that December was the fifth straight month of contraction.

But even with that, the Dow, the S&P and the Nasdaq only showed final losses of the day between 0.7% and 0.8%.

Small caps had the best luck. The Russell 2000 was only down 0.4%.

So which investments had the best luck?

Oil and defense stocks were top performers.

Crude oil futures have settled at $63.05. That’s up 3%.

These four defense stocks all recorded solid gains.

Two of them actually made new highs.

And for the bears who were banking on a sharp sell-off in semiconductor and software stocks – well they were largely disappointed.

Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon are the four biggest tech companies in the world.

And together, they’ve been dubbed GAFA.

As much as they found themselves in the spotlight, and despite calls for break ups and increased regulation, 2019 was pretty good to them.

As they’re heading into 2020, their combined market cap is valued at $3.4 trillion.

That’s up 31% from 2019’s first day of trading.

But how is the media faring in all of this?

The media sector started 2020 with a combined valuation of $1.5 trillion.

That’s up 28%.

But even though those numbers are up, GAFA’s market cap pulled away from the medias by $493 billion more.

There were six media and tech companies that increased in value by $50 billion or more in 2019.

GAFA made the top four.

Only Disney and AT&T made it in the media.

Comcast was close at $49 billion, but there was no cigar.

Investors want to know – will this be the year when one tech company is worth more than the entire valuation for listed media?

They think that three out of four in the GAFA line up could.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

We live in a partisan nation.

It seems no matter what the headline is, if it’s related to Trump, there will be a deep divide between support and opposition.

The same holds true for the recent drone attack in Iraq that killed Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani.

Most Republicans praise the move.

Most Democrats decry it.

But this particular tweet by Rose McGowan is the worst of the worst.

And lots of folks think she’s completely lost her mind.

McGowan’s followers accused her of doing drugs. Many pleaded with her to delete the post or maybe even her entire Twitter account.

Not so charmed now, are you?

She later apologized for the tweet, calling it a “freak out.”

“Ok, so I freaked out because we may have an impending war. Sometimes it’s okay to freak out on those in power. It’s our right. That is what so many Brave solders have fought for. That is democracy. I do not want any more American soldiers killed. That’s it.”

But social media users weren’t having it.

“I call bulls—. You said you couldn’t ‘escape’ the U.S. and were being ‘held hostage’ by a ‘terrorist regime.’ STFU and buy a plane ticket ya f—ing walnut.”

Regardless of what McGowan may (or may not) tweet, this is likely just the first “worst of the worst” we’ll see.

Most said they were lifelong Republicans who were more concerned than ever about the Democratic Party gaining more power citing fears that they would face more government mandates.”

And he called for attendees to vote in such a way that would ensure “another monumental victory for faith and family, God and country, flag and freedom.”

Scientists have just found the world’s largest flower.

And it sure doesn’t smell like a rose…

It smells like rotting meet.

In fact, thanks to it’s parasitic prowess and horrible stench, it’s been dubbed the “monster flower.”

It’s also been called the “corpse flower.”

Known as the rafflesia plant, this latest found specimen is nearly four feet in diameter.

It was found in the same location (and from the same host plant) as the previous record holder.

This one is four inches wider, though.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

Thursday was a stellar day for the markets.

The Dow jumped 330.36 points (0.9%) to close at 28,868.80.

The S&P closed up 0.8% at 3.257.85.

The Nasdaq gained 1.3% ad closed at 9,092.19.

Chip stocks were leading the way.

But today, it’s a whole different story.

After a US airstrike killed a top Iranian commander in Iraq, futures are sharply lower.

The Dow was down 280 points at 7:25 am EST.

The S&P and Nasdaq futures were also sharply down.

Already, US crude oil futures are up about 4% to $63.56 a barrel.

Forbes thinks so, and after a quick read, you might, too.

In November, Nike made the decision to break up with Amazon and sell their products online independently.

Meaning that they’re losing the world’s largest sporting goods company.

Now, you probably already know that most of the stuff listed on Amazon aren’t actually Amazon products.

It’s all about third-party sellers.

In 2007, only 26% of Amazon sales were from third-party sellers.

Today, that has skyrocketed to 53%.

And if you think that Nike is the first to leave, you’d be wrong.

Check out the other brands that have abandoned Amazon.

But now, it turns out that ANYONE can “become” Amazon.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

So, how’s that fundraising coming along, Democratic contenders?

While there have been some strong takes on the Democratic side, they pale in comparison to what Trump has raised.

None of them came near the $46 million the Trump campaign took in for the final quarter of 2019.

This haul even topped Obama’s fourth-quarter fundraising when he was up for re-election.

It also beats Trumps own record $41 million in the last quarter.

His current campaign war chest is over $103 million strong.

So, how do the other candidates compare?

Bernie Sanders fared the best. His campaign took in $34.5 million, which was up 36.4% from the previous quarter.

Next in line was Pete Buttigieg, who raised $24.7 million. That’s up 28.7%.

Next was Joe Biden. He reeled in $22.7 million in fundraising. This marked a 44.6% increase.

And then there is Andrew Yang. While his $16.5 million haul might not seem so impressive, it marks a 65% increase from last quarter. Which IS pretty impressive.

Missing form the round-up?

Elizabeth Warren.

While they haven’t officially released their fundraising update campaign emails are painting a bleak picture.

Her estimated fourth quarter haul looks to be about $17 million.

And that would be a 31% decline from the last quarter.

Last night’s airstrike that killed Iran’s elite military force leader, Qassem Soleimani, is a “huge intelligence and military victory.”

According to Sean Hannity:

“But I will say the big headline is, this is a huge victory for American intelligence, a huge victory for our military,, a huge victory for the State Department and a huge victory and total leadership by the president. It’s the opposite of what happened in Benghazi. The exact opposite. And you know Benghazi, you investigated it.”

And Representative Waltz of Florida had this to say:

“And for those critics who are going to say this is warmongering, no, this is peace through strength.”

CRAZY-INTERESTING OR RIDICULOUSLY-WEIRD

Archaeologists had another major find at the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

This time, it was about 200 more warrior from the ancient Terracotta Army.

They also found 12 clay horses, the remains of two chariots, some bronze swords, bow and even some colored shields.

The excavations are the latest round in No. 1 Pit.

It covers an area of about 400 square meters, or 4,300 square feet.

This is a great extension of the original find back in 1974.

Scientists still haven’t figured out how this vast army was created.

What else will they uncover as the dig continues?

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

In the past month, gold prices have risen by 4.26%.

It’s finally broken through a strong resistance level at $1,500.

So what’s taking it higher?

Most likely, it’s tied to the fact that the US housing market missed expectations last month.

The homes sales index did rise by 1.2%, but that was just under what was expected.

Now, a downturn in the economy does not necessarily sway investors to choose gold over investments in the housing market or vice versa.

Rather, when gold prices rise, it means investors are losing confidence in the housing market.

If housing thrives, investors are moving out of safe havens.

“Sale prices continue to rise, but I am hopeful that we will see price appreciation slow in 2020. Builder confidence levels are high, so we just need housing supply to match and more home construction to take place in the coming year.”

California’s AB5 went into effect yesterday.

It adds a new litmus test for what constitutes an employee versus an independent contractor.

The law was aimed at companies like Uber and Lyft, but several other groups of gig workers were caught in the cross fire.

One of those groups are truck drivers.

And many of them were planning on leaving California altogether.

But just hours before the law was set to go into effect, a judge gave truckers a break.

But it may be only a temporary one.

The judge was U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez.

A hearing has now been set for January 13th.

Benitez wrote, the plaintiffs “have carried their burden for purposes of emergency relief to show (1) that they are likely to succeed on the merits, (2) likely to suffer irreparable harm in the absence of relief, (3) that the balance of equities tips in their favor, and (4) that their requested relief is in the public interest.”

“AB5 threatens the livelihood of more than 70,000 independent truckers,” said CTA CEO Shawn Yadon in a statement in November. “The bill wrongfully restricts their ability to provide services as owner-operators and, therefore, runs afoul of federal law.”

But the creator of the law is still planning to fight back.

“For decades, trucking companies have profited from misclassifying drivers as independent contractors, taking away rights such as meal and rest periods and fair pay,” she wrote.

Pocahontas has a vetting problem.

Sure, running for President isn’t easy.

But the job of vetting donors and endorsers is a great “practice run” for the heavy vetting required in the West Wing.

And it seems that folks on Elizabeth Warren’s team don’t really have their eyes on the ball.

In fact, the Washington Examiner found multiple instances where the Warren team failed to flag folks who even her rivals would have avoided like the plague.

Like Ed Buck. Yeah, him – the serial predator. He preyed on black men by offering them free drugs before sexually assaulting them in his home. So far, he’s been charged with three counts of battery for causing serious injury, administering methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house. Oh, yeah – and don’t forget one count of distribution of methamphetamine resulting in death.

Or how about Anoa Changa?

She’s a regular on the Russia propaganda network Sputnik. A 2018 NPR profile suggests that she “unwittingly” helped Russia’s effort to create chaos in the US. She also casts skepticism that the Kremlin interfered in the election cycle.

And what about John Dabeet?

He is the president of Americans and Palestinians for Peace. He’s also on the Muscatine, Iowas school board.

He regularly rips pro-Israel lawmakers as “puppets.”

And Yasser Arafat? He was a martyr.

And the list keeps going.

Welcome to 2020!

Today, the markets are closed, which provides a unique time to take a look back through time.

Because December 31, 2019 didn’t just wrap up a year.

It wrapped up a decade.

And it was a good one.

From the tail end of 2009 until December 5, 2019 let’s see what the markets have done.

The Dow returned 165% (with dividends being reinvested.)

The S&P returned 244%.

That would make the compounded annual growth rate for the Dow 10.2%.

It would be 13.2% for the S&P.

So, who were the biggest winners of the decade? Some might just surprise you.

Netflix Inc. (NFLX) was the clear winner. The total return from December 31, 2009 until December 5, 2019 was 3,767%. It spent three years as a Top 10 performer.

But far fewer people had heard of the #2 spot, an investment company MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (MKTX). It gained 3,182% and spend two years as a Top 10 performer.

Meet Alexander Kott. He’s the chief scientist at Combat Capabilities Develop Command’s Army Research Laboratory.

And he was recently tasked to pick the Army’s top 10 science and tech advancements of 2019.

To make his list, he chose “the ones that had the potential for long-term game change – something that could actually lead to a major change in future capabilities and, at the same time, that was well grounded in foundational science and technology.”

Here’s what made the cut.

#10: Artificial muscles for tougher robots. Yep, that’s right – robots with muscles. The Army is looking at making stronger robots by making artificial muscles. They take twisted, coiled plastic fibers that can contract and expand under various stimuli. Ultimately it mimics the ways that muscles naturally function.

#9: Real-Time biorecognition receptors for soldiers. The new versions will be small, inexpensive and rugged. They’re also peptide-based. This will make them more capable than today’s standard receptors and will be integrated to provide immediate, real-time info on a soldier’s health and performance.

#8: Water-based, fire-proof batteries. This could be a serious game-changer. The Army has created new aqueous lithium-ion batteries that are nonflammable and water-based. With a lithium salt that isn’t sensitive to heat.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Let’s face it – it’s not just people who are prone to Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It looks like entire stats can fall victim to it.

And as that happens, sensible folks pack up and move.

It turns out that they’re doing it so much that it could forever shift the face of Congress.

How?

Because after the 2020 census, these population changes can either add (if you’re a destination state) or remove (if you’re an exodus state) Congressional seats.

For example, an estimated 203,000 people fled ultra liberal California between 2018-2019.

If those numbers hold true for the census count, Cali could go from 53 to 52 seats in the House of Representatives.

And the states they are heading to stand to gain seats.

Texas is a pretty popular destination.

It could pick up as many as three new congressional seats after the census.

Florida is poised to pick up two seats.

Arizona, Colorado, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon all stand to gain one new seat each.

Other states projected to lose seats?

Alabama, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia.

Could the mass exodus of liberal mania states work in favor of conservatives?

And these aren’t minor wins. But significant and fact-driven victories.

The first to make the list is from October 16. That’s when data from Moody’s analytics (based on three different economic models) predicted a massive win for Trump in 2020.

“Barring anything unusual happening, the president’s Electoral College victory could easily surpass his 2016 win over Democrat Hillary Clinton.”

The models find Trump winning in 35 states – including key players like Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.

On November 5, military veterans showed they haven’t soured on Trump. Which is great, because they make up 13% of the entire population. Overall, 57% of veterans approved of President Trump’s performance. It skyrocketed to 92% among Republican veterans.

What were his other big wins?

Yep, those are police officers who pulled over a woman who led cops on a slow speed pursuit – driving a toy truck!

She avoided a DUI charge because she was driving a toy – not a vehicle.

Then there was the lady who hopped into the zoo enclosure and dancing in front of what seems to be a very confused lion.

You can’t make this stuff up, people.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Good ole’ Floppy Joe…

Former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy isn’t in love with Joe Biden flip-flopping on whether he would or wouldn’t honor a subpoena to testify before the Senate.

“If you don’t like Joe Biden’s answer, just wait about an hour and he’ll give you the exact opposite. I found it dumbfounding.”

He’s accused the former VP of single-handedly gutting one of the two articles of impeachment.

Basically, he’s saying “By the way, you all are trying to remove a president from office for doing what I just promised to do.”

But are Democrats railing about it?

Nope, they’re supporting him.

“He’s not going to comply with a subpoena, which is what one of the two articles of impeachment against Trump is.”

And it isn’t the first time that the former VP seems to get immunity for the same “high crimes and misdemeanors” that Trump is being accused of.

Remember when he withheld a billion in aid to get a prosecutor fired?

Trump’s approval ratings just did something magical.

They crossed the 50% approval threshold. Which is critical in terms of re-election.

The same poll, released by Zogby Analytics, also shows that President Trump is leading the top Democratic presidential candidates.

Trump’s approval right now stands at 50%. Only 48% are negative. Giving him a +2 net positive.

The poll also shows where he’s been gaining the most ground.

That’s been with independents, Hispanics and women.

“Trump is doing well and winning back support with important swing voters.”

And he does really well with the most vulnerable voters. People who have lost a job, are afraid of losing a job, those at low paying jobs and those who haven’t eaten in 24 hours.

Which surprising demographic is showing support levels of 51% and 56% respectively?

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

With just two trading days left in 2019, the Santa Rally looks set to continue.

In the 21 years since 1928 that the S&P 500 has been up 20%+, it gained an average of 1.3% in the year’s last week of trading.

Right now, the S&P is having the best year since 2013.

But, if it gains beyond 29.6%, it’ll be the best year since 1997.

Today, at 8:30am, the Advance Economic Indicators report was released.

At 9:45am, the Chicago PMI is unveiled.

And at 10:00am, the Pending Home Sales report is due.

Tomorrow at 9:00am, both the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices report is released as well as the FHFA Home Prices report.

At 10:00am, the Consumer Confidence report is due.

Are we really okay with letting Facebook and other Silicon Valley giants become the Corporate Thought Police?

Are they really the best entities to decide on what the goal posts are for protected and censored so-called “free speech?”

As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said, the only real remedy for evil speech is “more speech, not enforced silence.”

Admittedly, in the current political climate companies like Facebook and Twitter are in between a rock and a hard place.

But how can they work to create the goal posts when none of them agree on what that looks like?

There are ZERO unified standards for free speech.

So what does censorship look like now?

“Siloed decision making by secretive ‘boards’ that have limited diversification of background and worldview, all pushing ever-changing directives out to technical teams which must implement these wishes into algorithms for their respective platforms.”

You might compare it to the Wild West.

Silicon Valley is now where “individual firms are their own judges, juries and executioners in how and where free speech policies are concocted and applied.”

And as arbitrary as it is, it’s legal.

But that certainly doesn’t make it fair.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Justin Haskins has identified the three “most potentially destructive proposals promoted by many of the leading Democrats.”

And while you’ve probably already taken your own stance against them, he wants you to know the real dangers of these policies.

Because he thinks they’re so radical that they’d make Karl Marx smile.

After all, “Socialists are clever marketers. They pitch their proposals as necessary to advance justice, equality, prosperity and the very survival of life on Earth in the face of impending environmental disaster. None of these things are true, but they sound good and have a certain appeal.”

The Green New Deal
Haskins has identified the Green New Deal as the “most dangerous and socialistic policy every embraced by a major political party in American history.”

It would eliminate the fossil fuel industry, and with it – millions of jobs.

The American Action Forum estimates that the policies tucked away in the Green packaging would cost more than $90 trillion in the first 10 years.

In case you’re not up to speed, that’s four times the current national debt.

“If you asked our foreign enemies to come up with a plan to destroy the American economy and plunge our country into another Great Depression, they couldn’t come up with anything that would do the job as well as the Green New Deal.”

Jack Brewer is a former NFL player.

Once upon a time, he campaigned for Obama.

Today?

He’s predicting a “black awakening” that will carry President Trump to a 2020 election victory.

He’s played for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals.

But now, he’s on Team Trump.

He’s part of an increasing number of black voters who support Trump.

They’re rejecting the Democratic Party because they feel it’s abandoned them.

“I said enough was enough and I really started putting aside what my parents and my grandparents taught me about sticking to the Democratic Party because they were the party for African-Americans. You know all that rhetoric sounded good back in the ’60s, but the facts are that the policies just don’t help our families.”

And he’s predicting that other black voters will give Trump more than 20% of the black vote.

But now that we have Google Earth, it seems it’s just getting weirder and weirder.

And it’s definitely not something “natural.”

This is among the latest of finds made by amateurs using Google Earth.
