INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

The stock market rallied on renewed hopes of a U.S. China trade deal. 

 

According to the latest reports, the U.S. China trade talks are scheduled for October in Washington.

 

This news was enough to get the S&P 500 over the 2,930 resistance level.

  

In addition, Ray Dalio, American billionaire investor, hedge fund manager, believes the risk of recession in 2019 and 2020 is low. 

 

He said in an interview on Thursday: 

 

“I think that it’s probably a 25% chance in each of those years…I think that the important thing is…it’s important to understand how the economic machine works. While I’m looking at that, I want to take a few minutes and look at the important things that pertain to a recession.”

Cambridge University released research how to theoretically reverse the aging in the brain. 

 

Scientists removed certain protein in the stem cells of a rat’s brain and it reversed the aging process. This was a relatively simple procedures with amazing results. 

 

This research has not been conducted on humans yet. 

 

But imagine the potential. We could be able to treat diseases like multiple sclerosis and even Alzheimer’s.

Yesterday’s estimate from ADP showed private-sector payrolls jumped by 195,000 in August vs. the expectation of 140,000.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

Yesterday was a strange day. 

 

The S&P 500 was up, bonds were up and gold was up. Everything as up.

 

It doesn’t make much sense and it tells me something is about to happen. I think gold is close to a major top and it could easily pull back down below $1,400 over the next few months. 

 

In addition, the S&P futures rallied last night on reports China and U.S. will meet in Washington in early October to resume trade talks. 

 

We have seen that any positive headlines about the trade war are bullish (for now).

Porsche’s first electric car is now out in the open.

 

And the starting price is $150,090 which I will never be able to afford.

67 percent of votes said it’s “necessary”.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update 

September is one of the worst months for stocks. 16 out of the last 25 years, S&P finished lower at the end of the month. 

 

And over the past 30 years, the S&P 500 lost an average of 0.47% in September.

 

Yesterday, September got off to a slow start. Investors digested the new China / U.S. tariffs and the S&P 500 ended the session down 0.7%. 

 

I’m waiting to see if we get a sell off. And if the S&P 500 drops down to 2,875, I’ll reassess the situation to see if it makes sense to buy.

Brain-reading technology is on the rise. 

 

As Vox’s Sigal Samuel reported:

 

“Mark Zuckerberg’s company is funding research on brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that can pick up thoughts directly from your neurons and translate them into words. The researchers say they’ve already built an algorithm that can decode words from brain activity in real time.

 

And Musk’s company has created flexible “threads” that can be implanted into a brain and could one day allow you to control your smartphone or computer with just your thoughts. Musk wants to start testing in humans by the end of next year.”

 

Our brain is the final privacy frontier. However, Zuckerberg’s and Musk’s ambition might interfere with this basic right. 

 

It’s scary to think one day we would lose the ability to determine where our thoughts end and machines begin.

On Monday, Sleepy Joe talked to reporters in Cedar Rapids. 

 

He argued firearms with magazines capable of holding “multiple bullets” should not be “on the street.”

 

I have news for you Joe. 

 

You see, the whole point of a magazine is to hold “multiple bullets.” That’s what magazines do. 

 

I’m glad he tackled this issue during his 8 years as the Vice President…

Let me tell you what I mean. 

 

If you are browsing the site and for some reason you click on a page that’s not available, you get an error code – that’s normal. 

However, President Trump’s error page shows Hillary Clinton as the commander in chief speaking into a microphone with the following description…

 

“Oops! This is awkward,” the page reads. “You’re looking for something that doesn’t exist…”

Markets were closed yesterday. 

 

The futures are slightly down but as I said yesterday, I didn’t expect crazy volatility. 

 

On the other hand, gold and silver are extremely overextended. 

 

And I believe a major pullback could begin over the next few weeks. 

 

It might be a good idea to take some money off the table if you rode this gold rally.

And they are unleashing creepy robots in 350 stores this year.

 

The purpose? 

 

One type of robot will roam the aisles and identify out of stock or out of place items. Once they identify them, they will alert humans to address these issues. 

 

Another type of robot will navigate the store and scrub the floors.

– Wage growth at or above three percent for 12 straight months

It’s official. President Trump’s 15% tariffs went into effect yesterday.

 

The Federal Register notice published the products covered by Annex A of the Aug 20, 2019 notice, and that the rate of additional duty will be 15 percent on the current effective date of Sept 1, 2019.

The S&P 500 futures opened sharply lower last night but quickly bounced back.

The US Space Command will be run by a four-star general, and it will be responsible for setting the US’s military agenda for space.
