Analysts are anticipating that the latest weekly jobless claims report will show that 452,000 Americans filed for unemployment benefits, compared to the 473,000 who sought that assistance in the previous week. And bitcoin surpassed $40,000 for a moment this morning after the world’s largest digital currency sank to a low not seen in three months, yesterday. The complicated love affair between the Tesla CEO and the digital currency market just took another twist on Thursday after Elon Musk referred to dogecoin in an early-morning tweet.
“How much is that Doge in the window?” he wrote on his platform of choice.
Those eight words alone sent the value of the meme currency up 11%. Just before 7 a.m. ET, the currency was worth approximately 40 cents, a mere twenty minutes after that tweet was released.
Musk’s fascination with the currency is well known. He’s reportedly involved in streamlining the digital currency, but he has also described it as a “hustle.”
Yesterday, the entire crypto market suffered large losses before regaining some of them.
