The 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks is just around the corner, and Frank Siller is honoring that day with a 500-mile, six-week walk that began yesterday.
Siller lost his brother, who was a firefighter, that day, and said he will spend this time thinking of him.
“It’s very emotional,” he said. “…I think about the innocent lives that were lost here at the Pentagon. There were so many acts of heroism that day that have to be told. Some have been told… and some have not yet been told…”
He began his journey at the Pentagon, near the place where 184 passengers on American Airlines flight 77 lost their lives.
Ultimately, he will wind up in Manhattan, headed toward the World Trade Center, where his brother lost his life.
