The stock market looked like it was in for a mixed open this morning, as the record virus cases compete with vaccine news for investor attention.
Yesterday, the U.S. again hit a record-breaking number of infections when it recorded 187,883 cases.
Meanwhile Pfizer and BioNTech will seek emergency use authorization for their vaccine, a process that could last weeks. The World Health Organization has told doctors not to treat patients with remdesivir, saying there was “no evidence” that it works.
And the CDC is asking Americans to cancel their traveling plans this Thanksgiving to prioritize safety.

When the magician Aaron Levie posted on Twitter about how Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX are worth a combined $500 billion, Musk’s response was simple.
“Wild times!” he said in the thread.
“Don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t transform earth and space travel at the same time,” Levie had written in his original post.
Apparently, the conversation eventually caught the attention of Ashton Kutcher, too.
This year alone has seen Tesla’s shares increase almost 500%, and with the word that it will soon be included in the S&P 500 index, Musk has become the third richest on the planet.
