This is the latest on filing your taxes

It’s about that time to start filing your taxes. Almost. The IRS has pushed back the start of the season to February 12, but they have not changed the April 15 deadline.

“While I am disappointed that this year’s filing season will begin later than usual, I recognize that the IRS has faced extraordinary challenges throughout the [virus] crisis,” said a House Representative. “It’s a relief to know that despite contending with the distribution of two rounds of economic impact payments, facility closures and other disruptions, the agency will be able to begin accepting returns within the next month.”

Besides the new start date, what else is different this year?

The NRA filed for bankruptcy - this is what we know

The National Rifle Association announced yesterday that it filed for bankruptcy in an effort to escape New York’s “corrupt political and regulatory environment.”

“The plan can be summed up quite simply,” said the CEO and executive vice president. “We are dumping New York, and we are pursuing plans to reincorporate the NRA in Texas. No major changes are expected to the NRA’s operations or workforce.”

However, the attorney general in New York has vowed not to make it that easy: “We will not allow the NRA to use this or any other tactic to evade accountability and my office’s oversight.”

This move comes after New York attempted to dissolve the organization in court. What happens now?
