INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Market Update
Futures are looking bright this morning.
Both the Dow and the S&P are up 0.25% versus fair value.
The Nasdaq is up 0.3% so far.
On Wednesday, the Phase 1 agreement between the US and China gets signed. After that, they’ll head into talks to address reforms. And solve disputes.
Iran’s admission that they accidentally shot down the Ukrainian Airlines flight was good news for Boeing.
The DJIA entered 2020 with many expectations of a pause or pullback. But so far the Dow is up 1%, the S&P 1.1% and the Nasdaq composite has advanced 2.7%.
When it comes to the 2020 rally, Big Tech is leading the pack.
All five stocks that have beat the major indexes in 2020 fall under that category.
The Top 4 are names that won’t surprise you. Apple, Tesla, Facebook and Alphabet have been leading the rally for the past several months.
The last stock is a new addition. But it’s in a sector that’s been a big winner in the New Year.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) stunned everyone with a recent announcement.
They’ve selected David Kris to oversee the FBI’s implementation of reforms in the wake of the damning DOJ IG report late last year.
Why is it so shocking?
Well, first – he is a former Obama administration lawyer.
He’s appeared on “The Rachel Maddow Show.”
Oh, and he’s a regular contributor on the left-wing blog Lawfare.
And he’s written extensively in support of the FBI’s surveillance practices.

This is a slap in the face to Republicans who have been demanding accountability from the FBI.
Devin Nunes has called his appointment both “shocking” and “inexplicable.”
“It’s hard to imagine a worse person the FISC could have chosen outside Comey, McCabe or Schiff. It’s a ridiculous choice.”
He left us with an important question…
“Of all the people in the swamp… this is the guy that you come up with? The guy that was accusing me of federal crimes? The guy that was defending the dirty cops at the FBI? The court must be trying to abolish itself. There is long-term damage.”

Trump just broke a new, rather surprising record.
His recent Farsi Tweet is the most liked Persian Tweet in the history of Twitter.
Translated into English, it read:
“To the brave and suffering Iranian people: I have stood with you since the beginning of my presidency and my government will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely. Your courage is inspiring.”
It gained 100,000 “Likes” in the first hour.
It’s gone on to more than double those numbers.
Saeed Ghasseminejad, senior adviser and financial economist at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said this: “A strong show of support by Iranians for Trump’s Iran policy, something the MSM does not and will not report.”

CRAZY-INTERESTING OR RIDICULOUSLY-WEIRD
Most new interns get stuck working in the filing department, or something equally mundane.
Not this kid.
At 17 years of age, he interned with NASA.
On his third day on the job, he’d discovered a new planet. One that’s about 7 times bigger than the Earth.

His name is Wolf Cukier.
In an interview with News 12, Cukier compared his discovery to “Star Wars.
“I discovered a planet. It has two stars which it orbits around,” he said. “So, if you think to Luke’s homeworld, Tatooine, from ‘Star Wars,’ it’s like that. Every sunset, there’s gonna be two stars setting.”
